Wherever new legislation and regulation is under preparation, the WGA provides early information and clarification of the practical impact on members. One of the main concerns is to participate in the process of regulation, and to influence it in an appropriate manner in the interest of members.
Our information service also includes the publication of specialist articles, and the conduct of events, and provision of information by telephone or online. Where necessary, we can also arrange for the preparation of expert reports, written statements and specialist information on sectoral issues and on interest of general relevance to import and export.
A key concern in the area of legal framework conditions is uniform application of regulations – for example in customs regulations, in food monitoring, and in issues which go beyond the borders of individual countries or of Europe.
We send out regular circulars, informing our members of the latest news and information. In special cases, the WGA also arranges contacts with appropriate specialists.
The WGA attends the meetings of numerous official bodies and associations, and is constantly in direct dialogue with public authorities, parliaments and governments. This permits direct contacts with the respective decision makers, so the WGA can ensure that aspects relevant to practice are included in the debate on a good professional basis. These contacts enable us to ensure sound and long-term representation of the interests of our members. This work is also complemented by cooperation with representatives of scientific organisations, and by active press and public relations work. The WGA represents the professional interests of the wholesale and import and export trades at regional, national, European and global levels.
