HTL's activities focus on legislation affecting chemicals and problems arising from German Food Law. There are a variety of central concerns, reflecting the diversity of products which members import, i.e.
- Food hygiene
- Food additives, purity criteria
- Maximum residue limits
- Regulations governing the use of hazardous substances
- Water hazard categories

Also, HTL provides the technical secretariat for the AIPG (Association for the International Promotion of Gums), which has many German members from HTL as well as numerous companies in the EU, Japan and African producing countries.
The association has its own terms of trade and arbitration procedures. |
